It began with a cat...

When I was fifteen, I lost relatives with two cats. These cats came to live with our two cats and two dogs. Suddenly we had a menagerie. One of the newer cats became "my" cat. She was a black short-haired cat with glossy fur and bright green eyes. Her name was Taffy.

The years went by and Taffy aged as we all do. Her system slowed and she started having bouts of constipation. The vet gave her a laxative paste of brown, fishy, sticky goo she ate with a fuss and we all hated taking turns giving it to her. There had to be a better way.

One day I thought how when having stomach problems, resting my hands on my belly made me feel better. I didn't know why at the time, but I thought maybe it would help Taffy's problem. I tested this the next time I caught her lying down on her side by sliding a hand on her belly as an experiment.

She surprised me by rolling over onto her back and stretching out. I left my hand on her belly and she lay there purring away. I stayed with her for about ten minutes before we both seemed to decide enough was enough. I thought that it was neat that she had enjoyed it so much so I started "working" with her a couple of times a day morning and night. Sometimes it was at bed time or just while watching television.

As time went by, she didn't need that smelly paste anymore and had less trouble at the litter box. Was it because of the "treatments" I was giving her? I would have to say yes. I had discovered Reiki and I didn't even know it. I had proven the benefits back in the 1980's. Little did I know I would rediscover them officially and scientifically thirty years later.

Now I am an Animal Reiki Master through S.A.R.A.(Shelter Animal Reiki Association). I have written a beginners book titled "Color, Connection, Kinship" and traveled all over the US, to England and South Africa sharing and acquiring Reiki experiences. I have shared some of these in various magazine and online articles.

While I have worked hands on, off, and distantly with everything from crocodiles and tigers to dogs, cats and birds- I consider myself the most experienced with cats, dogs and horses. This is due to my client base since 2012 and volunteer work at Live and Let Live Farm in Chichester, NH since 2015.

I can be reached at (978) 372-2231or [email protected] I am on FB as Feather and Fur Reiki.

Thank you- Sincerely, Kimberly
